He who loveth a book will never want a faithful friend,
a wholesome counsellor, a cheerful companion,
or an effectual comforter.

Sorry, I spelled something wrong.

That's a very true quote. I love books but don't read like I used to because my eyes are not as good and I have a computer. lol

I know you like to read, Ruth, so I want to recommend John Burdett's mysteries to you. His main character, Sonjai Jitpleecheep, is a Buddhist and a police inspector. The setting is Thailand. The storyline is wonderfully compelling and sometimes funny. Start with Bangkok 8 and continue on with the series for a fine read.

And you couldn't say that about a digital book, or an audio book could you? I laugh when people say that IT will superseds books in time. Instead of reducing the output of printed matter it is actually increasing as the IT age progresses. I certainly buy a lot more books these days than I ever did, even though I also spend a lot of time on-line!

I also love reading and the photo and quote are beautiful.

Tenderness contains an element of sadness. It is not the sadness of feeling sorry for yourself or feeling deprived, but it is a natural situation of fullness. You feel so full and rich, as if you were about to shed tears. Your eyes are full of tears, and the moment you blink, the tears will spill out of your eyes and roll down your cheeks. In order to be a good warrior, one has to feel this sad and tender heart. Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche
