“This life is yours. Take the power to choose what you want to do and do it well. Take the power to love what you want in life and love it honestly. Take the power to walk in the forest and be a part of nature. Take the power to control your own life. No one else can do it for you. Take the power to make your life happy.”

What a great quote Ruth. I really belive that sometimes we have to make a conscious effort to be happy.
It's not always easy, but it beats being unhappy, and I know what I prefer.

Sometimes I just don't know what to say. Commenting is very hard for me. I was here, I read, I saw. LOL. Just wanted you to know I WAS here and that I enjoy your blog.

I have suggested just this to so many young women who have ceded their power to others.

I certainly agree with Sheila. Some days the effort to be happy, even just for ones self is a battle but one so much more worthwhile than most things a person does in a day!

I agree, some days it is harder than other days, but when the effort is made everybody feels better.

SPS knows a thing or two, doesn't she? (She's also made a lot of money out of her wisdom!!), but a good one, nevertheless. And I like Libby's take on it! As long as it isn't power that becomes abused and abusive...

Tenderness contains an element of sadness. It is not the sadness of feeling sorry for yourself or feeling deprived, but it is a natural situation of fullness. You feel so full and rich, as if you were about to shed tears. Your eyes are full of tears, and the moment you blink, the tears will spill out of your eyes and roll down your cheeks. In order to be a good warrior, one has to feel this sad and tender heart. Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche
