Tenderness contains an element of sadness. It is not the sadness of feeling sorry for yourself or feeling deprived, but it is a natural situation of fullness. You feel so full and rich, as if you were about to shed tears. Your eyes are full of tears, and the moment you blink, the tears will spill out of your eyes and roll down your cheeks. In order to be a good warrior, one has to feel this sad and tender heart. Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche

I love the figures carved in stone at the top corners.
Dot asked yesterday about the tree..it's an oak isn't it?
I think it looks like an oak too.
Love the photo today also and somehow I missed the river picture. The river looks very high.
Yes I'm pretty sure its an oak; the river is very running high with all the rain we've had; even my small garden pond is overflowing!

I love this quote, I'll keep it in mind when I'm rushing about trying to do loads of things at one go. And the blue of the sky is a perfect backgroung for the photo.
I was lucky with the blue sky; I took the photo in Colchester on one of our very few sunny days lately.
Sheila; the carvings are St Helena, facing Jerusalem; below her are four ravens, emblems of the Port Reeve, an indication of the past importance of the Hythe docks area.
Good saying - I must remember it. And from Golda herself, wow! Thanks for helping out with identifying the tree.
pretty pic...and time and tide wait for none :)
Jon is the official town clock time keeper! When the clocks go forwards or back I have to stand outside with my mobile phone and tell him when the clock is correct as he can't see when he's up the tower...it is quite funny to see "Time" flying! LOL!
MrsN...we shall expect photos next time the clocks change!
